I have not posted to my blog all year. It began to seem a fruitless endeavor and something I don't seem to have time for anyway. All my time is spent studying and taking tests yet I don't feel any smarter only more weary. Much of my time the past two weeks has been spent with Kim or Stef and Kim trying to help with, what was to me, her sudden move to Las Vegas and a new job for Ross. It is a loss that I am sure Stephanie feels as keenly as I do. I did so want to go to a baby shower. I now have more time to become weary studying. If you ever need to know anything about QuickBooks, I have become a bit of and expert.

These images where done by Charlot Byj. She did greeting cards back in the 1940's. Later she was a artist for Goebel for a line of figurines. Stef acquired these images for Laurens baby shower and it is easy to see why Charlot Byj was and remains so popular. She died in 1983.

Jason's Surgery Went Well

We (Dad, Me, Kim and Ross) went to the hospital this morning to be with Dee while Jason was in surgery. Everything went well and now we just need to wait 2 weeks to see if the skin graphs take. The Doctor said while Jason's condition (PAN) is always painful it was more so this time because of where the flare up was. The nerve that is involved causes him continuous pain and the usual medication was not helping so he needed something stronger. We have high hopes that there will be a good result, Dee is so great at meeting Jason's wound care needs. Anyone who has ever been in pain knows that it can wear you down and become so hard to handle, I am so grateful that Jason has a doctor who knows this and does all he can to help. Without some kind of relief, even if it is brief, it is hard to regroup and be positive. Jason will be down for the count for the next four weeks at least so please do all you can to let him know we are thinking of him. You all know how hard it is for Jason to sit still.

Life has been keeping me pretty busy. School is going well. I like my "Web Easy" class bests it is definitely more fun than "QuickBooks". There have been a lot of birthdays this week and Joey's birthday party was great. Dee always has the best food.

I have been longing for the summer to get here and now that it has I like to complain about how unbearably hot the car gets. I got my car air serviced right before we went to Georgia and two days later while in Tennessee, no air. I think I should get my money back.

I am learning many new things at the bookkeeping office. Who knew that this is what I would be doing? Not me! QuickBooks is like most software you just need to learn your way around and I have my own CPA at my beck and call to answer all my accounting questions.

My little porch garden is exceeding my expectations. There are tomatoes on my tomatoes planets. How fun is that?

We got to go to Hanna and Logan's last soccer game of the year and attend the awards party that night.
Hanna helped us pick out a baby chicken for her great aunt Sally.
To funny! We went to pick up a bag of ice and Jon and Val got out so I could take their picture in front of their "Dream House" Ha! Val and I laughed a lot while I was there.
Fun in the pool! Yes I went in. No dad didn't go in but he did go in the ocean.
The ocean was wonderful and we had such a great day with Jon, Val and the kids.

I saw the doctor today and he believes the leg pain may be due to the intravenous catheterization they did to try and stop the bleeding. He has given me medication that will work on the nerves to help with the pain and the hope is that in time it to will heal. I was lucky to have Stef with me today she was a big help. All my children have been so wonderful to me through this whole ordeal and I shutter to think what it would have been like without them. Yesterday when I had to go to the hospital to have more test sweet Kim showed up with a bag packed ready to stay with me if they admitted me once again. God has blessed me in so many ways.

I had a long day with doctors hospitals and test. The test all came back negitive which is good however the doctor wants to see me first thing in the morning. I love you all!

Home Sweet Home

The staff at the hospital were all so very kind with the exception of one nurse who I think was not doing well herself and should have been a patient herself.

The PRI office brought me this marshmallow flowers that were so cute and no I have not eaten all those sweets yet.

Daddy knows how I like to have something to hold onto and what a good dog he kept track of my very important chapstick for me.

Alexina Brothers is a very nice hospital. Everything is in the round which works very well.

Kim spent a lot of time caring for me both day and night. She spent almost as much time at the hospital as I did. I know how very tried she had become but she always had a smile and a kind word for me.

My little garden that brought me much happiness.

Well if that isn't the cutest thing ever.

You can tell how tried even Mark had become. He took a lot of time off of work so he could have the baby at the hospital so Stef could feed him between the time she spent caring for me. He never once complained and my respect for him is eminence.

I didn't get any pictures of Noah (well I didn't take any of the pictures except for the one of Kim). Noah spent two nights at the hospital with me. I think after the first night he had spent with me he thought the worst was over and had gone home only to come back when he found out I was to have surgery again. That second night he spent sleeping sitting up in a chair just outside my door and every time I awake I looked to make sure he was still there.

Lauren was so wonderful, she gave me a bath and because my memory is not to good (that is a good thing) I think she must have bathed me after I had thrown up on my self. Bless her heart. Her dad also came to see me and what a wonderful smile that man has.

The Millers who are always there in a pinch were wonderful to us. Crystal helped out with Mal so much that he thinks he lives there now.

That blanket you see me with in the first picture Stef got me and I sleep with it every night,day,afternoon,morning... I sleep a lot.

Ross and Kim took me to the doctor yesterday and the last of the tubes and the staples are gone. These staples looked to me to be better suited to hold singles on a roof than my stomach together. He also explained to us what had been moved and what had been removed. I think he must be a very good surgeon. He says I don't really have much of my intestines left but the very good news is that they work. Also loving to impress, I did impress the doctor with my many scares and 11 surgery's.

Kim and Ross are takeing me to see my primary doctor today. Yeah the pain pill man. So I better get dressed as best I can.

I love you all and have been very touched by the care and love that has been so freely given.

One more thank you to my sister (sis-in-law) sister to me, who has talked to me on the phone almost everyday.

Hard to believe but I have been doing paint.net for a year and a half now. I have been trying to organize my photobucket, would you believe I have 590 images on there and I consider that just a handful of what I have done. While I was moving things around I found this old video of things I made in 2007. One other thing I would like to share is that PDN put another of my images into the Galleria which is a big honor for me. It made me think that I should not give up on trying to go to school for graphic design. One day! The bad news is that I am once again not feeling well. I took to my bed all of yesterday but I am feeling better today. Well enough to be moving pictures around anyway. One other thing about my image in the Galleria, this one is all mine. I felt like the first one they put in was shared with my brother as he took that wonderful picture.

I have been learning new things and it is taking up all my time. Soon I will get around to removing Christmas from my blog and moving on to the New Year.

Doing things for the new tax and bookkeeping office downstairs has kept me pretty busy. I am learning all about Google Apps and trying to be competent at managing a web site. I have made some progress but have a lot to learn. I do wish I had a mentor to guide me on this journey but I have always been good at reading the manual and I am getting some help from the great resources at our library and a little help learning HTML from "The Video Professor". I have been able to set up the email accounts and get the logo up even add a few pages but like I said, I have so very much to learn. Wish me luck!

It was such a nice Christmas having so many of you here. It was especially nice to have Noah and Lauren, it has been a while since Noah has been with us on Christmas day. I am so sad that Kim and Ross could not make it to be with us all.

It was such a very nice Christmas. I loved the house being full of happy people that I love. It was just a great day. We took many pictures and these are but a few but I am sure you will be seeing more from Stef, Kim and Lauren. As far as gifts go, Santa was good to me. I got some great music and a gift certificate to Red Lobster, pj's, fuzz sox's, smell good stuff, silverware, candles, two cute bags, a great watch, ornaments, the best calendar in the world and more. But how about those boots. Dad got me Oscar sports Italian made boot. We are not usually so extravagant. I love them. They are beautiful and warm. You can count on seeing those on my feet all the time. Let it snow!

I lost my sister Betty Friday

My sister was a big part of my childhood but after my mother died when I was 10 we lost contact for 45 years. I am grateful that we were recently reunited and I as able to visit her this past spring. I will always love her.

I love these old pictures of the home I lived in as a child. My father built that house. I remember the red table in the kitchen and the black and yellow floor so well. All the flowers in the vases came from my mothers flower garden. The flower garden is something else I remember very well. In the black and white picture of Zak and Betty that is Johnny that Betty is holding and in the colored picture of my mother and Betty that is my sister Liz's little boy Jeffery that Betty is holding. I remember that visit so well, it was such a happy time. I also remember how empty the house seemed after they went home. The picture at the end was taken when we went to Zak's (Betty's husband) funeral. How sad to have lost him so young. The picture is of Nolan, Mike, Larry, Johnny and I. How very young we were to know such loss.

I got word this morning that my sister Betty is not expected to make it through the week-end. As you know my sister Betty is a generation older than me. She was a big part of my childhood but after our Mother died when I was 10 she was no longer present in my life. We were reunited this past summer and for that I am grateful. I would say I'll miss her but I feel like I have missed her my whole life.

Finally I am feeling some better. (Looks like I am going to live after all) It has been a long week for me, much of it in bed. Last night Dad and I went to Target so I could get out of the house for a minute. It was so nice to have something besides pj's on and be out and about. I am even eating a little but don't act surprised when you see me I have lost a few more pounds. I am working on a picture of elves climbing on a snowman and I told Dad that my legs look just like theirs.

When we were out I got some lights to put out on the porch. That is going to be my fun thing for today. Next time anyone comes over, don't forget to tell me how great they look.

Can you believe it? How upsetting must it be to see your house get auctioned off at rock bottom prices! If you have money to spare you could sure get a deal today. The auction started yesterday and continues through today. Some of these properties have a starting bid of $500. That doesn't mean that is what they will sell for but...

The Title is a link to the auction page if you are interested in seeing what houses in your neighborhood are going for. If you are trying to sell a house at value these days, Good Luck. I saw houses over a million with a bid start of $189,000. I can't help but wonder who all these people are who have lost there homes and how sad they must be. On the other hand if you are looking for a condominium in Chicago you are in luck. There are 615 properties being auctions this weekend in Chicago. There have been similar events all over the country and there will be more to come.

I am sure you all know what this means for your own property values. One could almost be happy not to be a home owner right now. A home owner could drowned in this market as property values drop and more people find themselves under water as they say. On the other hand if you have any money tucked away...Buy, Buy, Buy.

CodeRed Alert

I received a call tonight from 999-911-9999 when I answered a voice said, "This is a CodeRed alert message press any key to hear message." I hung up thinking, "Now what!". Being curious I google 'what is code red alert' to see if I could find out if it was a valid call. What I found out was that it is an emergence notification system that provides a mass notification to residents in the event of an emergency. It is at the county level and can dial up to 60,000 numbers at once. Wow! I had never heard of it before.

The primary use of CodeRed is to notify county residents of an immediate emergency. It can be used to define an area for evacuation or "Shelter in place" notifications for incidents such as a hazardous material spill or major gas leak. It can also be used to direct residents to a specific TV or Radio station for further important details and instructions. It may alert residents to shelters activated in municipalities during weather or power emergencies. It may be used to alert residents of wildfires approaching their area. CodeRed can also be used to alert a neighborhood to watch for a lost child, an impaired individual who has walked away, or a dangerous individual that may be in the area. CodeRed can also be used for non-emergency or urgent messages. Using the list feature, municipalities may wish to use it to notify on-call employees very quickly and the police departments can use it to notify specialized officer teams or notify officers in case of a large scale emergency. The 9-1-1 center can create lists of emergency responders and use CodeRed as a backup to the normal emergency notification process.

After finding this out I knew I had made a mistake in hanging up. I received a second call which was a hang up followed by a third call. This message I listened to. The message thanked the residents for their help in finding the lost child. Wow! What a great system.

So if you recieve a codeRed call don't hang up.

I Found An Old Friend

I know you have heard me speak of my friends from Judson and how I would not have survived without them. I know many say such things of their friends but in my case it is a pretty literal statement. You have also heard me tell the story of how they introduced me to that most wonderful thing called pizza. To think I was in college before I had my first piece of pizza and even cold what a wonder I thought it. I didn't know there was such a wonderful thing and that they would bring it to you.
When I married they were the only family I had and when I fell so ill and was in the hospital they were the only people who ever came to see me. At that time in my life it had not occurred to me that doctors got paid or hospitals for that matter. I guess I thought they were like the Religious and doing Gods work. I must have seemed pretty pitiful to my very kind and generous doctor because I never received a bill and it was still years before I realized the truth of it. Also even though I did not finish the semester of school that I was in three of four teachers chose to give me full credit. I don't think I ever thank any of them for their kindness. Pam took me home with her on more than one holiday and her Dad gave me away when I got married. Pam and Beth both stayed with me one summer and worked on campus when everyone else had gone home. I don't know for sure that they stayed for me or because they thought it would be fun but I tend to believe it was at least in part for me. I had spent time alone on campus before and had Thanksgiving with strangers. There was nothing fun about it. I was sometimes envious that they worked in the Registrar's office and I cleaned but I had first had a job where I had to be with people and it soon became clear that my upbringing in a cloistered society had made that impossible for me. The Psychology teacher gave me a job holding her baby the next year. She was a smart woman and I might add what a great job that was. College or just the world in general was very difficult for me. I guess that is why it took me 17 years to finish college. Well enough off that. How far I have come.

What I really want to tell you is that I recently found my friend Beth and I wanted to share the joy of that with you. The picture is of Beth, Pam's Dad Bill and Pam when I first married. I know how like me, I got married twice and all I have to show for it is 3 not very good pictures. Forgive me for not putting the rest of my wedding album up. (the picture is from December of 1971)

I am at a place in my life where I look forward to getting to know Beth again and she has put me in touch with Pam.

Three Dog Night

I tried to post a 'Three Dog Night' song on YouTube and it seems they no longer allow their songs to be posted. That is too bad because who even knows who 3dog is anymore and if they can't be posted who will ever know who they are. I guess I should say who they were because I guess that makes them forever Has-beens. I don't think there is going to be a run on 3dog music anytime soon. If you can't hear these old groups on places like YouTube, who will ever here them? It is not like we are lining up to download 3dog from ITunes for our IPods. Who is going to look for someone they never heard of. I guess they just joined the rakes of the soon to be (if not already) forgotten. It makes me sad because I am not dead yet and still like to hear the music of my youth sometimes and even share it. Very unlikely that you will hear them on a radio station that the young listen to today and rare to hear them on the oldie channel because, well let's face it there are so many old songs out there and there are just so many hours in the day.
I wonder if it is the groups themselves or the record companies that have made the decision to not allow this music. I so understand for new groups and by that I mean anything in the last 30 years but there must be a cut off some where. Okay I know there is. 100 years, but come on, time to up date that in this new fast pace world.

I have Rhapsody. I should say I had Yahoo music (a subscription) but they were bought out by Rhapsody. I can go there and try and find this old music, which I do. The thing is, and I have found this true on more than one occasion, when I find the album I am looking for there are songs missing. I guess if you were not familiar with the album maybe you wouldn't even notice. But what is up with that? I have found my best source to be the Library and even it is lacking. There is a limit to what they have and sure I can use the library lending system to increase my chances of finding what I want. The problem is these are old like me and somewhat used up. More than once I have been excited about a find only to bring it home and find it just want play no matter how much you clean it. And believe me they all need to be cleaned. That reminds me a piece of advice I have been meaning to give you, when you check things out from the library do clean them, that means book as well. Everybody has had their hands on them. I always clean a book before I start reading it. Besides it is good for the books.

John and Barbra are moving into their new house

My brother Johnny and his wife Barbra, as most of you know, live in Georgia. I try and visit every couple of years and have always thought their home beautiful. Well they are moving into a new beautiful home. I keep telling them I didn't see anything wrong with the old one. I think what I say is, "I could die happy here". These are pictures of the house under construction but they called me two days ago to say it was finish right down to the landscaping and they were moving in. I keep watching for Johnny to post finished photos of the house but am happy with the under construction photos for now.

They need to put a rocking chair right there for me and I would be as happy as a pig in mud.

Sonny Acres is a beautiful and fun place and our walk to the park at Kims was so nice.

Lombard has many old trees that are changing colors and I love to see the wonderful houses there. Every house is different and more interesting than the last.

First of all Mark and Stef have provided warmth. I have not had to wear my hat or gloves indoors all day. They just got a new space heater and it does the job. Good purchase guys.

Second Dad says the side street half a block away seems doable. There is still the matter of getting the car on the right side at the right time. I need to run out to the store tonight so when I get home the trick is to remember to park for tomorrows date.

The cities revenues should grow and do just fine with these steep parking tickets. How could anyone get this right all winter long? Whoever hear of a $50 parking ticket?

First of all a BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MAL!

Yesterday was Mal's birthday and he had called me on the phone the day before and ask me to take him to Kimbos (His name for Aunt Kim). He is 4 mind you. We did go to Kim's and had a great day. We had lunch and he played with what must of been one of Ross's great games and he loved it. We took a walk to the park and he played and played. Also on the way there we stopped at the pumpkin farm and he had a great time there. I have many pictures to share but have not had time to get them on my computer so look for them to come soon.

Now the strange stuff. Recently we began a odd even parking on my street. Meaning that on odd calendar days you park on odd address side of the street. Also the timing is hard to get straight. Between 5pm and 12am you can be on either side giving you a grace period to move your car. My problem has been that when I get home I think okay it is and odd day I'll park here and then in the night I wake up and remember that no, it was after 5pm so I should be on the even side. So hard to keep straight and we have already gotten one $50 ticket.
Here is the curve ball. I got home last night and there are new signs because they are going to resurface the road which is going on as I write this and will take they say 5 weeks (we will see). Anyway, back to what I was saying. The signs say NO PARKING MONDAY THREW FRIDAY FROM 6AM TO 5PM. What? So I being tried and having called my son-in-law to ask ,"What is the date?" parked my car. Now I am thinking, "I have to get up and move my car at 6am for 5weeks. They say you can use the public parking lot a block and a half down but guess what? You can't park in the lot between 4am and 6am. So if you used the lot you would have to move it at 4am. Mind you these are $50 dollar tickets and we have 2 cars. Dad trusting my good judgement(ha, ha) parks on the side of the street that I am on when he gets home. I was very tired from a long but great day with Mal and got to bed at 1am thinking got to get up at 6am and move the cars. I woke up at 3 and got up to go to the bathroom and as I often do looked out the window. That is when it hit me that we were on the wrong side of the street and to stay would cost $100. I called the non emergency number of the police to ask please could I leave them till 6am I just am having trouble working this parking out. NO So there I was in my pj's at 3:30 moving the cars and had to wake dad to find his keys. He has no inside lights and I could not find the headlights so I did it blind. Then I am thinking will I wake at 6am or would it be better to just stay up. This due to road work would not just be a ticket but a tow $$$$. Dad, bless his heart woke me at 7am and had moved the cars. One poor guy got his towed. I am assuming that all streets are even odd. It is a test this year to see if it improves snow removal. I don't think they thought about the road work or the people it would affect. Their are just us and one other unit affected by this. I can't do this for 5weeks the sleep deprivation alone will kill me and I am already having trouble being on the right side at the right time.I have to talk to someone and work out a solution but I am to tired to think and to emotional to function. I am out of the Valium that I was recently put on and to tired to go pick it up. I can't be spending $100 a night to park and I sure don't want the car towed away. I am just helpless to help myself today.
You might think that enough to deal with. I have no heat and the cold is hard on fybromyalgia, very hard. The landlord tells me that when the people moved out downstairs they turned of the electricity. That would be the electricity that runs the thermostat that turns on my heat. Maybe by Friday he said they could have it on. Maybe by Friday I will have collapses from sleep deprivation and freeze to death.
Stef and Mark have sent me some heat in the way of their new space heater. Thanks for the warm guys, it sure helps.
My doctor tells me to avoid stress that I need to get my blood pressure under control. Second and third stage hypertension is not good. The stress, the cold all of it makes my fybromyagia flare. I would like to be shut in my room (warm) with just my cats, some good movies and some of those green covered Fanny May candies for a week. I really think that the world has been spinning to fast for me for two months now.

Our Weekend

Dad and I took a vacation from the rest of the world this weekend. That does not mean we took a vacation from location just from the things that keep us busy so we could spend the time together. It was a nice and restful weekend. We took a drive to check in on Kim's cats and it was a beautiful day for a drive. While we never set eyes on Tory the rest were welcoming and very excited that I knew how to open a can. Dad tried to put a little aside for Tory under Kim's bed but you can see who thought better of that. I made sure Dad cleaned that up before we left. I thought they would get home and not know were the bad smell was coming from.

We enjoyed our drive home and stopped at the Goodwill. What a crowd all looking for Halloween costumes. We just had fun browsing the book and paintings. Sunday we just hung out in our pj's and I did a lot of cooking. Even baked a cake.

Leo Sayer

I put up a little Leo Sayer for those of you who don't remember him. 'Long Tall Glasses' that I used in the family video was a top ten song and 'You make Me Feel Like Dancing' won a Grammy for best R&B. Well it was the disco days. He did do one song that 'Three Dog Night ' did, 'The Show Must Go On'. Much like 'Three Dog Night' I like some but not all his music and it is true I like 3dog better. He was a little guy with very big hair. It is an interesting glimpse of the 70's. This picture is how I remember Leo Sayer and I am sorry to say he reminds me of the 'lose weight' guy Richard Simmons or maybe it is the other way around Richard Simmons reminds me of Leo Sayer. He was pretty crazy out there with his dress and actions.
